Everyday Japanese Food, Made Easy
In Japan, picking up a fresh bento and a few groceries on the way home is part of daily life. We wanted San Antonio to have that too. Star Go Plus is a grocerant — part Japanese grocery, part lunch counter. Grab a freshly made lunch, pick up ingredients for tonight’s dinner, and discover snacks you won’t find at the big-box stores, all in one quick visit.
Our Mission
To make everyday Japanese lunch and pantry favorites accessible to San Antonio households and workplaces — combining convenience, authenticity and community.
Why "Star Go Plus"?
Star for the bright, hopeful spirit we bring to every day. Go for fresh food that’s ready when you are. Plus for everything more — groceries, treats and a little fun.

Meet the Team

Hiroyuki "Hiro" Kawashima
Founder, CEO, Star Go Plus
Hiro brings nearly three decades of hands-on experience in Japanese food to Star Go Plus — as a chef in Japan, a fresh-food manager at a Japanese supermarket in the U.S., and the operator behind successful ramen restaurants in Houston, San Antonio, and Kansas City.
Deep Roots in Japan’s Food Industry
Hiro began his career in Japan, working seven years as a Japanese-cuisine chef and three years as an Asian-cuisine chef. After moving to the United States, he spent 12 years at a Japanese supermarket as a fresh-food manager, overseeing five departments: bento, sushi, produce, seafood, and meat.
Leadership and Growth Across Multiple Markets
His career has taken him from Tokyo to the San Francisco Bay Area, Houston, San Antonio, and Kansas City, giving him first-hand insight into a wide range of customer tastes and regional food cultures.
Hiro has built restaurants from the ground up. As Store Manager and Vice President, he opened and ran two restaurants — Ramen Bar Ichi in Houston and Hero’s Ramen x Sushi in San Antonio — handling everything from launch to daily operations and team structure, and growing monthly sales to $100,000–$120,000.
Five years later, he co-founded KC Craft Ramen in Kansas City with a partner. As head of restaurant operations, he led staff management and training, workflow design, and production management, and the restaurant reached $3 million in annual sales in its third year.
Japanese Cuisine and Operations Expertise
Focused on authentic Japanese cuisine, Hiro pairs a chef’s eye for food quality with a manager’s command of day-to-day operations — the foundation of everything we’re building at Star Go Plus.
